At the beginning of our tour, we take a walk for about an hour in Çat Valley, one of the hidden valleys of Cappadocia. Çat Valley is one of the most colorful hiking trails where the beauty of Cappadocia can be seen for 7 kilometers. The valley got its name from the town of Çat with the same name.
Our next stop is going to be Gulsehir that has been the site of many settlements since the Hittite period.
Aciksaray (Open Palace) situated in the vicinity of Gulsehir, is an important site of remains and deserted cave-village with rock-cut dwellings and chapels. The “Open Palace” was of the great importance for Christians for centuries. During the early periods of Christianity, the first followers of Jesus and his apostles settled in the area to hide from the soldiers of Roman Empire. Your tour guide will tell you more about this ancient place.
Next destination is going to be Tatlarin Underground City which is one of the most significant underground cities in the Cappadocia Region, was first discovered in 1975, was cleaned and opened to tourism in 1991. The Tatlarin Underground City, whose original entrance has been demolished, is entered through a 15 meter long tunnel. The tunnel opens to a very large hall with a gigantic keystone at its entrance. The keystone, or in other words, the bolt stone, which is frequently encountered in Cappadocia underground cities, is a clever precaution against danger.
Upon arrival to Pigeon Valley, pigeons will meet you on the top of the valley. Pigeons have always been important for Cappadocian people. Their eggs and droppings were used for different purposes. For this reason, local people carved houses for them to the slopes of valley. You will learn more about Pigeon Valley from your tour guide.
The most unrealistic and unique castle around the globe, Uçhisar Castle, will be our last destination. It is a volcanic projection and is surrounded by similar cave-like rock formations. Villagers used it as a shelter in the ancient era because the caves maintain a temperature of 15°C throughout the year, making it efficient even today.
At the end of the tour we will drive you back to your hotel around 17:30.
